200 X 100 OIL ON UNSTRETCHED CANVAS

This painting was inspired by the Cannibal Manifest by de Andrade were European  culture is canibalised  (for instance german expressionism is my main spring of inspiration). This apparently confused painting has a shaman influence, where colours and details have a magical purpose in this case this multitude of details is compensated  by very strong brushstrokes, and the bright colours which represent an abstract rainforest. In fact reds and greens (reference to Thereza Negreiros a painter from the Amazon) are the main colours, the major notes of this drama. The other colours are yellow and blue (green = blue + yellow) play a minor role. Plus they could be seen as the hidden aspects of the jungle, the eyes, the flowers and all the details which need to be discovered while the red and the green signifies the jungle and the human flesh. Jungle is often seen as a subconscious symbol and the only figurative element is a red hand sole body of evidence of a devoured corpse devoured by a ferocious jungle, annihilating every human trace.
